Looking to give your child the best possible start to school?

Ready, Set, Launch! is a literacy-focused program designed to help children build the foundational skills they need as they prepare for their first year of school.

Led by experienced primary school teachers, these sessions are specifically designed with school readiness in mind. We understand the early literacy skills children need to develop before they begin learning to read and write at school. The program aligns with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and the Victorian Curriculum. It supports the foundational skills children will draw on as they begin their school journey.

Our sessions are screen-free, engaging and hands-on, with activities carefully selected to build confidence, attention and foundational literacy skills.

What will your child be learning?

Children will develop their ability to listen, concentrate, follow instructions and stay engaged with learning activities.

Children will develop phonological awareness through activities that develop skills such as recognising and identifying sounds, hearing rhyme, identifying syllables and manipulating sounds in words. These skills form an important foundation for learning to read and spell.

Children will develop their understanding of single-letter sounds, with a focus on phoneme–grapheme correspondence. Through explicit teaching and engaging, hands-on activities, children will learn to recognise common letter sounds, connect each sound (phoneme) to its corresponding letter (grapheme) and practise using this knowledge to identify and represent sounds in simple words. This provides an important foundation for early reading, spelling and writing development.

Children will participate in activities that strengthen their fine motor skills and support the development of a comfortable and effective pencil grip. They will practise correct letter formation (handwriting), helping prepare them for writing at school.
